John Bear is a devoted public servant and experienced problem solver. His personal and professional achievements are a testimony to a career dedicated to serving his community and improving how government is administered. More than a personal quest for office, John's campaign for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives is part of a larger movement to change how business is conducted in Harrisburg.

As a local representative, John believes the role of government is to expand economic freedom and opportunity for all Pennsylvanians. He also believes trust is only earned when confronting challenges with practical solutions, and doing so in a transparent and honest manner.

A life-long resident of Lancaster County, John began his journey into public service by serving on the Lititz Community Center's Junior Board of Directors while attending high school, and later continued to further hone his leadership skills at Temple and Georgetown University, and at the University of Pennsylvania. It was his college and childhood experiences that helped John realize that he wanted to dedicate his life towards serving his community and helping government to function more efficiently and effectively to better serve taxpayers.

After graduating from college, John moved back to Lancaster County and was soon elected to his first public office on the Republican Committee of Lancaster County. Over the past decade, he has held several elected offices, including Councilman for Lititz Borough and as a member of the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee. John has also been appointed to the Lititz Community Center 's Board of Directors and has served as an instructor for Quarryville Elementary's Junior Achievement Program. Rounding out his community interests, John is also a member of the Rotary Club, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provide humanitarian service.

Professionally, John has been focused on helping state and local governments and nonprofits improve their operations. Having worked with one of the country's premier universities and with many state agencies in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, John understands the impact legislation can have on organizations and the effects of unfunded mandates. It has been through these experiences and his time serving on the Lititz Borough Council that have helped him develop a pragmatic approach towards governing. A strong advocate for fiscal restraint, his time in office has been focused on providing essential government services to taxpayers at a minimal cost, keeping taxes low and controlling the growth of government.

John is a graduate of Temple University where he earned a bachelor of arts in political science with honors. He also holds a master's degree in governmental administration (MGA) from the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a certificate from the Fund for American Studies' Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University. While attending college, he had the honor of working for Congressman Robert S. Walker on Capitol Hill, Senator Rick Santorum, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Deputy Secretary of Administration. John and his wife Bobbi reside in Lititz, Pennsylvania with their son Jack.
